The villa circulates around an open-air courtyard which draws the ocean breezes through the house. The San Rafael's iconic courtyard fountain is the centerpiece of the villa. A sunny Cuban-tiled kitchen & extensive alfresco living spaces border the plunge pool. The spacious library, complete with games, a smart TV, desk & ample seating, converts into an additional bedroom (king or 2 twins) with a stunning ensuite full bath.

Suites San Rafael, San Francisco & San Miguel, enjoy a secondary entrance on the upper level through a romantically appointed vestibule which leads to a walking callejón connecting the villa to the rest of the town. The ocean level suite, Santiago, with its king suite and bunk room, has its own private beachfront entrance and terrace. All rooms are connected by curved & tiled alfresco staircases & balconied walkways with tropical flora, lending privacy & a tropical vibe to the Posada San Rafael.

Included with this villa is membership to the private oceanfront Beach Club which is just 4 doors down. With 3 pools, a fitness center, bar and restaurant, it’s a nice alternative to the beach! And for your beach fun, complimentary beach towels, bags & beach chairs are ready for your uninterrupted ocean fun. When you need a break from the sun, Smart TV's are in most rooms and Wifi is fast & plentiful!

There are many antiques and water hazards, terraces and railings, throughout this home. Guests should be aware that portions of this house may not be suitable for children under 5. The Santiago Suite is our more "family friendly" suite as there are no pools or stair hazards.

The town of Las Catalinas was designed to be a walking beachfront  town where neighbors got to know one another, and where kids run free without a worry for security. Modeled after seaside towns in Italy & France, the winding cobblestoned streets with artfully designed fountains and tropical flora plantings make Las Catalinas the remarkable town it is. There is nothing like it in all of Costa Rica!

There are many restaurants to grab a bite or a beverage.  Celeste on the beach, where you can eat with your feet in the sand, has exceptional fare and friendly service. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The italian inspired Ponciana in the boutique hotel, the Santarena, for a special dinner. The Club at Las Catalinas is a good option for lunch and snacks. For a meal with a view, Sentido Norte, just up the hill has won an award for best bar/restaurant view! There are also dozens of great places in the town of Potrero, just 15 minutes away.
